Executive Producer Drew S. Levin announced today that his company Initiative Productions has assembled the team it needs to launch production of its 8-hour PBS primetime historical/archeological series The Route to Christianity.

Levin will bring over twenty years of success as Executive Producer to oversee, steer and mold the project into another successful PBS series in the tradition of his Emmy-winning show Futurequest starring Jeff Goldblum and his most recent critical and ratings success Walking the Bible.

Helming the series and sharing executive producer duties is top broadcast, cable and feature film director/producer Hector Galán who has already began shooting the series in the Holy Land.   Working with a top Israeli crew, Galán shot for five days in Bethlehem and Jerusalem over the Christmas holidays, recording a total of over 600 minutes of high definition footage.

The host is Jonathan Phillips, a history professor who has frequently appeared on documentaries as an expert commentator but whose charisma and talent, says Levin, “…will make him the next big PBS star presenter.”

Serving as the primary creative consultant in charge of content is Alex Gregory, who served as principal writer on Drew S Levin’s hit series Walking the Bible as well.  Assisting Alex with research and story development is Tip McPartland.

Providing production services in Israel and Palestine is Sharon Schaveet and her company Biblical Productions.  In Egypt and other Arab areas, Ash Hasen, another veteran of Walking the Bible, will serve as the shows “fixer” to obtain permits and will also field produce including hiring crews.

Plot

Tyler Hawkins (Robert Pattinson), a rebellious young man in New York City has a strained relationship with his father, Charles (Pierce Brosnan) since his brother's suicide. After meeting Ally Craig (Emilie de Ravin) through an unusual twist of fate, the two bond over their similar tragedies as Ally's mother was murdered. But the two will soon find their relationship threatened. Throughout the film, it is hinted that it takes place in 2001 and in the end, Tyler is killed in the September 11 attacks to the World Trade Center, where Tyler's father works.

Critical reception

Kirk Honeycutt of The Hollywood Reporter gave the film a positive review stating the "scenes between Pattinson and de Ravin exude genuine charm" and goes on to say the score and cinematography brought "notable sparkle to this heartfelt drama." The film currently holds a "Fresh" rating of 60% on the film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Todd McCarthy of Variety gave the film a negative review saying the film had "grandiose thematic intentions" and was "framed in a portentous manner" and "the modestly scaled film delivers some moving and affecting moments amid a preponderance of scenes of frequently annoying people behaving badly" but goes on to praise the score and cinematography. Nick Pinkerton of New Times Broward-Palm Beach gave the film a negative review saying the film was dull and "the plot [showed] so little motion toward a discernible resolution that after a while, you wonder if the movie will ever end" and goes on criticizes the film and its tag line: "Live in the Moments" by saying it's a "plain bad movie with a "seize the day" message."

In an alternative future, humans can prolong their lives with artificial organs that can be purchased on credit from the mega-giant corporation known as The Union. In 2003, screenwriters Eric Garcia and Garrett Lerner began collaborating with Miguel Sapochnik on a screenplay based on a novel being written by Garcia, which has since been published as of March 31, 2009. In June 2007, Universal Pictures cast Jude Law and Forest Whitaker into the futuristic adventure thriller Repo Men!. The film will be directed by Sapochnik in his directorial debut. Production began in September 2007.[4] Casting for this film was done by Mindy Marin, production design by David Sandefur, art direction by Dan Yarhi, set decoration by Clive Thomasson, and costume design by Caroline Harris. Filming took place in Toronto, and the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario.[5]
