Carbon offsetting efforts rewarded with receipt of Green Award

Car leasing organisation, Uk Carline has been awarded Best Green Transport Award from the Lancashire Green Awards 2009, as recognition of the environmental efforts of this car leasing organisation.

Whilst car leasingand managing a business fleet can leave a hefty carbon footprint, UK Carline is making it easier for businesses to maintain their green goals while running a number of vehicles.  Keeping up with the times and keeping one eye firmly on the environmental impact of running a fleet of vehicles led to the implementation of a number of initiatives to reduce and offset carbon emissions.

Carbon evaluation of fleet operations involves a fleet review is carried out to analyse fuel consumption. Not stopping with the reduction of carbon usage, the latest innovation from this environmentally aware organisation is the introduction of a carbon offset initiative. In July 2009, UK Carline launched the first CO2 offset scheme of its kind in the UK. This initiative by a leader in the vehicle leasing industry provides UK businesses with a means to achieve their specific carbon neutral or carbon reduction targets.

This carbon reduction is made possible through the calculation of the CO2 output of fleet cars or vans during the period of the contract. Offset specialists, Carbon Balance, then participate in ethical and credible carbon reduction projects across the globe to balance carbon emissions. This allows for the responsible offset of the carbon produced by fleet vehicles.

The introduction of this cutting edge environmental initiative saved no less than 198.80 tonnes of CO2 emission in its first three months. This quantity is the equivalent to flying from London to New York and back 421 times, or driving around the earth in a medium-sized petrol car 128 times.

The UK Carline commitment to environmentally responsible car leasing has now been recognised with the Best Green Transport Award - Lancashire Green Awards 2009.
