Honeycomb marketplace lists DSG Sports API

Launched in August 2019, Honeycomb API Marketplace is live and ready to connect smart contracts to the external API data they need to create meaningful real-world applications. The marketplace has now officially listed Data Sports Group (DSG) Sports API.

DSG provides a premium sports catalogue offering for smart contract developers looking for an authentic and reliable data source. The API can be used to obtain live scores & in-game match timelines, match statistics, head to head and team & player information from their wide catalogue of sports.

The initial launch will see Soccer, Basketball & Tennis content made available through the Honeycomb marketplace. These APIs will be made available to Chainlink-enabled smart contract creators via per-call pricing. This removes the need to purchase annual API keys and developers can expect, within minutes, to connect their smart contract to the API.

About Honeycomb Marketplace:

Honeycomb is an API marketplace purpose-built for connecting smart contracts to high-quality external data inputs from some of the world's premier data providers. Smart contracts can query APIs on Honeycomb via decentralized Chainlink oracles, allowing the contract to execute in a highly reliable, end-to-end secure manner on networks such as Ethereum, Bitcoin and Hyperledger.

Esports popularity surges during coronavirus pandemic

Esports is increasingly gaining great traction in these times. Boosted by a conspicuous lack of professional sporting events world over, stuck-at-home consumers have increasingly embraced the idea of following and watching other gamers play matches.

Video games that are the basis of official live events are still serving as digital battlegrounds. The professional esports league of video game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) called ESL Pro League is currently organising games. The league has games played daily attracting a large viewership.

League of Legends has tournaments running across the globe, with games being moved fully online from a venue organized event. Similarly, events across several other game titles like Rocket League, Rainbow Six, Overwatch and DOTA2 are being held.

In response to the lack of traditional sporting events, clubs, organizers & sports federations are looking at ways to give fans a chance to engage with the sport. Last week, saw the launch of inaugural eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series race, featuring 35 current and retired Nascar drivers which was the most viewed e-sports event in US television history.

English League Two football side Leyton Orient organized an eSports tournament, FIFA20 Ultimate QuaranTeam. Clubs like Manchester City, Ajax, Roma who have existing esports teams have pitted to play in the tournament consisting of 128 clubs. Similarly, the Bundesliga is organizing an online tournament called Bundesliga Home Challenge compromising clubs from the German Bundesliga club structure

We will continue to see several non-official virtual tournaments replacing traditional sporting events for football, motorsports, and other sports, whereas video game publishers will seek to capitalize on viewership by running their official tournaments during this period.

Data Sports Group has been offering live eSports data for several years tracking tournaments across all popular game titles. Exclusive Babe Ruth Video Highlights New York Sports Tours Return With Virtual Tour June 25

For two years, New York Sports Tours has brought New York sports history to life for guests through one-of-a-kind luxury sports tour experiences. And while fans can’t board the minibus and zip around the city in person, they can participate worldwide in the unique New York Sports Tours Virtual Tour Experience on Thursday, June 25, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.

The special event will feature a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Babe Ruth’s initial season with the Yankees and exclusive content from Babe Ruth Day on April 27, 1947. The only known film version of Ruth’s speech at the ceremony—which includes his immortal line, “The only real game I think in the world, baseball”—will be part of the New York Sports Tours Virtual Tour Experience.

Further commemorating the June 25 experience is special guest Larry Cutler, who was a teenaged Bronx baseball standout when he was selected to introduce Ruth at the Babe Ruth Day event in front of a packed Yankee Stadium crowd. Cutler, now living in Colorado, will discuss his thoughts from that day, tell his Yankees story publicly for the first time, and field questions. In addition, an exclusive film reel of Cutler’s full Babe Ruth Day speech will be presented, and seen by Cutler for the first time.

While the COVID-19 quarantine has prevented us from running the New York Sports Tours outings in person, we are excited to present a virtual outing with the types of original stories, exclusive videos and exhaustive research that are our hallmarks,” said Jordan Sprechman, founder of New York Sports Tours. “Larry Cutler’s story of his unique connection to Babe Ruth adds to the one-of-a-kind nature of our tour experiences, and is a great way to help celebrate the centennial of the Big Bam’s first year in pinstripes.”

Tickets for the one-hour video conference session are $19.20 each, and available in limited number at newyorksports.tours/. The experience is co-hosted by Cisco Webex Events.

Strat O Matic 365 Adds League Commissioner Feature For Baseball And Football Online Games

With live sports still on hold (though hopefully coming back soon!), fantasy leagues have been looking for ways to keep their members together, combining their love of baseball and football with the camaraderie that goes with participating with friends. And for the first time, the popular Baseball 365 and Football 365 products from Strat-O-Matic (www.strat-o-matic.com), the market leader in sports simulations, give commissioners the tools to manage leagues of recent and all-time great rosters, with games simulated daily, just like regular fantasy sports.

Commissioner league users can invite specific guests to compete, incorporate league settings, draft teams at any pace, and even fill out spots with computer-controlled “bot” teams. Players serve as GM and manager, setting lineups, pitching rotations and managing styles (baseball) or starters, schemes and tendencies (football) for a realistic fantasy experience.

Baseball 365 Commissioner leagues can choose from the 2019 season, a new “All-Time Greats 9” set of more than 5,300 cards, additional single-seasons of 1982, 1986, 1999, 2007 through  2018, or mystery card sets from every decade from the 1960s through the 1990s. Football featured cards include the 2018 season, as well as an All-Time Franchises set with greats dating all the way back to the 1940s.

“Many Strat-O-Matic players are also huge fantasy sports fans, and just like Strat-O-Matic leagues stay together for years, a lot of the fun of fantasy is playing with your friends” said John Garcia, Strat-O-Matic’s Director of Research and exec-in-charge of 365. “There’s nowhere else to go right now to buy out a fantasy league in baseball or football with your friends.”

“The Commissioner leagues combine the excitement and strategy of Baseball 365 and Football 365 with the convenience and control that keep leagues and friends together,” said Bernie Hou, Director of 365 for Strat-O-Matic.

About Strat-O-Matic

Strat-O-Matic was invented by 11-year-old Hal Richman in his bedroom in Great Neck, N.Y. in 1948 as a result of his frustration with the statistical randomness of other baseball board games. He discovered that the statistical predictability of dice would give his game the realism he craved. Over the next decade, he perfected the game at summer camp and then as a student at Bucknell University. After producing All-Star sets in 1961 and ‘62, he parlayed a $5,000 loan from his father (and made a deal that if it didn’t work out he would work for his father’s insurance company) into the original 1962 Strat-O-Matic Baseball season game. Needless to say, Hal never had to take a job with his father.

Strat-O-Matic, based in Glen Head, NY and on the Internet at www.strat-o-matic.com, manufactures the top selling sports board games and realism/stats sports digital games. The Company publishes baseball, football, basketball and hockey games to play both on and off your computer and mobile screens. “Strat-O” games are known throughout the sports community for their statistical realism and accuracy. The Company has the world’s greatest sports game stat libraries with top-of-the-line seasons dating back to the early 1900’s. At the start of the 2016 MLB season, Strat-O-Matic introduced Baseball Daily, its first product featuring digital player cards that update every day to reflect real life current player performance as the season progresses.

The Company has a loyal celebrity following including a bevy of sports broadcasters such as Bob Costas, Jon Miller and Dan Shulman, former MLB’ers Keith Hernandez, Doug Glanville and Cal Ripken Jr., and sports super fans including Drew Carey, Ben Bernanke, Bryant Gumbel, Spike Lee and Tim Robbins. The Soccer Stars for All initiative is providing up to 5,000 spots in virtual classes
for children ages 1-12 and is taking place between May 20th, 2020 and June 28, 2020.  Enrollment in current virtual classes with available capacity will be on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to one class per week per child throughout the duration of the program.
