Neur Optics Launches New NPi 300 Automated Pupillometer

NeurOptics, the worldwide leader in the science of pupillometry, today announced the U.S. launch of its NPi®-300, a next-generation automated pupillometer that enhances pupillary assessment to assist in detecting cerebral insult, guiding treatment and informing prognosis for clinicians and their patients.

Early detection of neurological injury is critical for effective and timely diagnosis and treatment.NeurOptics’ quantitative automated pupillometer provides a reliable measurement of pupil size and reactivity and tracks changes over time, allowing for earlier intervention for patients with brain injury and those at risk of secondary neurological injury. The NPi-300 Pupillometer supports neurological examination in adult and pediatric patients across a broad spectrum of diagnoses, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, seizure, or other neurological events after cardiac arrest and other medical conditions.

The new NPi-300 Pupillometer includes several enhanced features to improve functionality, including:

  • Advanced wireless charging technology, offering improved reliability for the clinician
  • Incorporated barcode scanner, allowing clinicians to easily scan a new patient’s ID accurately and instantaneously
  • Updated graphical user interface, featuring an easy-to-read LCD touchscreen that enhances the visibility of the results screen

“We are excited to launch this advanced, next-generation pupillometer,” said William Worthen, President and CEO, NeurOptics. “It is a pivotal time for pupillometry, as more hospitals, ICUs and emergency departments are adopting the technology to assess patients for changes in pupillary light reflex—a sign of neurological injury. The NPi-300 Pupillometer, along with the Neurological Pupil index™ (NPi®) scale, provides clinicians with the information needed to make better treatment decisions.”

Automated pupillometry has emerged as an important technology that provides a quantitative measurement of pupil size and reactivity, expressed as the Neurological Pupil index (NPi). NPi values range from 0 to 4.9, with scores under 3 considered abnormal. The NeurOptics NPi-300 Pupillometer eliminates the variability and subjectivity inherent in manual pupillary evaluation (performed using a penlight), providing more accurate, reliable, and objective pupil size and reactivity measurement for this vital component of neurological examinations.1-8

Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga to Hold A Teacher Training at Discovery Yoga September 24 to 27 2021

St. Augustine, FL, July 30, 2021 -- Brenda Yarnold will hold a Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga (LVCY) Teacher Training Certification at the Hampton Inn, Vilano Beach, Saint Augustine, Florida September 24-27, 2021, in conjunction with Discovery Yoga.

This LVCY training is for yoga teachers, yoga practitioners, and healthcare/fitness professionals who are interested in senior fitness, disabled fitness, and exercise for anyone who, for whatever reason, cannot do regular exercise.

In this certification, Brenda trains participants to give a one-hour therapeutic chair yoga class with special emphasis on disabled and senior fitness. She teaches how to individualize postures by adapting them to differing levels of flexibility. These levels of flexibility set this program apart.

Participants come away with the skill to adapt, on their own, yoga mat poses to the chair with the varying levels of flexibility (what LVCY terms Chairasanas - asana being Sanskrit for pose or posture).

Participants learn the five variations of LVCY: Single Chair Yoga, Double Chair Yoga, Pair Chair Yoga, Wheelchair Yoga, and Weighted Chair Yoga. The last is targeted at building bone and muscle mass by using 1–3-pound dumbbells during Chairasanas. This addresses a major fitness issue of sedentary people such as seniors, the disabled, the overweight, and all of us who just sit too much.

Among the Chairasanas participants learn are the sun salutation, the moon salutation, the earth salutation, the warrior series, and classical balance postures. They receive an anatomy overview and a review of the contraindications & precautions for seated poses. In addition, other Eastern modalities are covered.

Program participants receive a 200-page illustrated manual, a certificate for 25 hours of LVCY teacher training, access to additional training materials and leads for LVCY teachers.

Brenda Yarnold, M.A., E-RYT 200, E-LVCYTT, has always desired to help others, particularly those who may feel challenged in their bodies from illness, weight issues, age, or otherwise. Brenda was certified in Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga in August 2014, after which she knew she found her path of bringing yoga to every-body. After Brenda served Lead Assistant for seven certifications, she earned her E-LVCYTT and Co-Director designations. She is trained in functional anatomy and is earning her 300-hour Yoga Therapy certification. Brenda has a compassionate, non-judgmental training style. Following in Lakshmi's footsteps, her programs are challenging yet fun.

RCFoamCutter Announcing the Addition of a Mini CNC Hot Wire Foam Cutter to its Machinery Line for Cutting Wings

RCFoamCutter LLC, a Bay Area California based designer and manufacturer of low-cost high-end CNC hot wire foam cutting machines announces the addition of a mini foam cutter new line of equipment to be available to its customers in August 2021. The machine can cut EPS, XPS and EPP foam with the size of 12” x 6” with up to 30” hot wire length and a cutting speed of up to 20” per minute.

The mini foam cutter is a true 4-axis machine, capable of cutting tapered shapes where one side cutting a different shape than the other side. It comes fully assembled and tested, not as a kit, so the customer does not need to spend time on putting it together. The electronics are sold separately on our website, or can be purchased on eBay, Amazon or anywhere on the web, as well as the customer will need to download the cutting software.

The mini machine’s advantage is that it is small enough to be placed on a table top, similar to a 3D printer. This new machine addition is offered at a low affordable price, and is a cost-effective solution to anyone wanting to cut airplane parts automatically rather than manually, for first time users of foam cutters, or whoever is opening a new small business and does not want to spend too much out of pocket. It is designed mainly, but not solely for cutting wings, cores and fuselages, therefore is intended to be mostly used by airplane flying model builders, RC hobbyist, RC flyers enthusiasts as well as high schools, universities and other academic institutes, specifically Aerospace and Aeronautic Engineering programs.

“We are continuously innovating, adding new products and reaching new industries according to the market needs” says Sage, Co-owner. “This mini machine was designed by Tal, Co-owner after we received multiple requests from RC enthusiasts to create a solution for cutting the wings for their airplane models. They all said they rather own a smaller machine that is cheap and does not take up a lot of space, therefore, the “Mini” was born. But don’t be fooled – It is a small machine but can cut large wings”. Sage continues to add that the machine users can easily transport it from one room to another, being such a small machine and that the software to download is user-friendly and does not require Cad-Cam prior experience.

The mini machine users can select the software that is convenient for them. They can use Mach3 software and hardware for operating the machine or they can use GRBL software and hardware. Both are available on the company’s website, or “off the shelf” online, as well as a selection of different tutorials. There are also several different options for generating G-Code to draw the desired shapes and specifically for cutting foam wings, such as DevCad, FoamWorks and more.

About the Company:

RCFoamCutter, established in 2006 is a designer and manufacturer of low-cost CNC foam cutting machines sold worldwide, that cut EPS, XPS, EPP and PE foam. The machines are used by a wide variety of industries and end-users, including universities, colleges and schools, RC flyers, hobby shops, small construction and renovation companies, sign shops, packaging companies, aerospace and aeronautics.
