Softline and Huawei Sign a Cooperation Agreement

Softline and Huawei Sign a Cooperation Agreement

LONDON, United Kingdom - October 06, 2020 - Softline and Huawei sign a cooperation agreement to strengthen their partnership.

This is a natural development of the long-term partnership between these two IT companies advancing it to its next level. The parties plan to join forces to power the Smart Hardhats developed by Softline with Huawei technology and Wi-Fi 6 solutions. The agreement envisages closer cooperation between partners in the hardware business development and extension of the special partnership options in order to boost sales of Huawei storage systems. The document was signed by Haijun Xiao, President of Eurasia Region Enterprise Business Group, and Sergey Chernovolenko, Global CEO of Softline, during the 2020 Huawei Digital Community Conference in Moscow.

The cooperation agreement proves the partners' willingness to consolidate their efforts to promote joint IT solutions and services and to implement new large-scale projects. In the future, this will help Softline get access to Huawei's cutting-edge technologies on special terms. In turn, customers will be able to purchase more competitive and advanced hardware solutions, in particular storage systems, at the best prices and with the shortest delivery terms. To develop joint products efficiently, Softline and Huawei plan to hold joint conferences and seminars regularly and provide analytical and expert customer support. The companies aim to increase the number of Huawei hardware implementation projects every year.

Huawei is a global IT leader that has been actively working in Russia’s carrier, corporate, and mobile markets for over 20 years. The first Huawei office outside of China was opened in 1997 in Russia. Today, there are 11 company branch offices throughout the country, from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok. Huawei hardware and services are popular among companies in all industries.

The history of cooperation between Softline and Huawei dates back to 2015. Softline has deep expertise in implementing Huawei products, such as hardware, applications, terminals, and network devices. Softline successfully implements solution integration projects not only in Russia, but also abroad. Softline has become a Gold Partner under the Huawei Enterprise partnership program due to its success in promoting Huawei equipment in Russia. Moreover, Softline is a Huawei Certified Service Partner for data transfer, power grids, and IP networks. This status confirms Softline engineers’ high qualifications and Softline service support infrastructure’s compliance to vendor requirements. The Huawei Certified Service Partner status guarantees the quality of service for the Huawei solutions implemented.

One of the most significant Softline projects on the integration of Huawei solutions is upgrading the networks of the largest federal retailer last year. Softline offered to use Huawei solutions in all the customer's distribution centers. Softline was named the best Huawei partner in Russia due to its performance in 2019 and was nominated for the Partner of the Year award.

"I am sure that the agreement will further strengthen our long-standing partnership and promote the demand for the products of one of the leading global telecom and hardware manufacturers and help us introduce new joint developments to the Russian market. Year after year, Softline has been improving its expertise and expanding the portfolio of Huawei products and industry-specific solutions. As a result, Huawei products provided by Softline meet a wide range of corporate and government customers' needs, enabling the implementation of even the most sophisticated projects,"—concluded Sergey Chernovolenko.

"We highly appreciate the cooperation with Softline, and its specialists have proven they are highly qualified by successfully implementing Huawei's advanced products and complex solutions. We are convinced that the expansion of our partnership in the areas identified today will allow us to jointly implement even more ambitious projects and achieve strategic goals in the Russian market,"—said Haijun Xiao.

Rare Unusual Mosaic Tabletop Tile by Roy LichtensteinBrings 36900 USD at Neue Auctions

Beachwood, Ohio, USA, October 6, 2020 -- A rare and unusual mosaic tabletop tile by Roy Lichtenstein climbed to $36,900, a circa 1910 Roycroft Ali Baba bench knocked down for $17,220 and a stunning 17th century English, Netherlands or Spanish School oil portrait of a Royal or Court Lady garnered $14,760 in an online-only Fine Art & Antiques auction held September 26th by Neue Auctions.

The auction featured traditional art and antiques, silver, jewelry, decorations and furnishings, pulled from prominent local estates and collections. Downsizing households presented some great opportunities for both new and established collectors. Internet bidding was provided by Liveauctioneers.com, Invaluable.com and Bidsquare.com. Phone and absentee bids were taken.

The mosaic tile by Roy Lichtenstein (American, 1923-1997) was executed by the artist in 1950 and was the sale’s top lot. Hand-set, unsigned and framed in walnut, the 14 ½ inch by 16 ¼ inch tile was not attached to a table base. It’s listed in Lichtenstein’s catalog raisonne and came out of a private collection in Cleveland, having been acquired by the consignor directly from the artist.

The early 20th century Roycroft Ali Baba bench featured a plank seat retaining bark to the underside and was presented on a trestle-style base joined by a mortise and tenon jointed stretcher. It had the Roycroft orb and cross on the leg. Roycroft was a reformist community of craft workers and artists that formed part of the Arts and Crafts movement in the United States.

The 17th century oil canvas laid on panel portrait of a Royal or Court Lady was unsigned and unframed, with a panel size of 27 inches by 22 inches. The painting had some in-painting to the face and lace ruff, plus some minor filling to craquelure, but that didn’t deter eager bidders who were dazzled by the sitter’s visage and the chance to own an antique artwork from the 1600s.

Following are additional highlights from the auction. Prices include a 23 percent buyer’s premium.

Paintings by noted, listed artists dominated the list of top lots. An oil on canvas signed and dated (1858) by the British artist James Webb (1825-1895), titled Thunder Clouds and impressive at 33 inches by 58 inches, brought $9,225; while an oil on artist’s board by Sergei Missan (Russian, 1926-1973), titled Still Life of Flowers, inscribed verso and framed, changed hands for $3,998.

An oil on canvas Still Life with Crystal Globe and Flowers, rendered in 1925 by the Cleveland School artist Clara Deike (1881-1964), one of three works by the artist in the auction, finished at $2,460. Also, a lithograph by Missouri artist Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975) titled Morning Train, a heart-wrenching image of a soldier heading off to war, artist signed, fetched $2,337.

Three works by the French painter Jules Cavailles (1901-1997) made up a colorful section of the sale in the form of happy still lifes. One, titled Still Life with Vase of Flowers and Mask on Table (1935), realized $2,214. Also, an oil on canvas depiction of Venice Canal with Gondola by the French artist Joseph Antoine Bouvard (1840-1920), signed lower right and framed, hit $3,198.

A circa 1880 Regina upright automatic disc box, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with 20 15 ½ inch discs, in fine playing condition and housed in a cabinet that had been beautifully restored and refinished, rose to $9,225. Also, a fine Tabriz carpet, 13 feet 2 inches by 10 feet, made from blended silk and wool on cotton weft in the Sheikh Safi design with a floral medallion, gaveled for $2,829.

An assembled Art Nouveau bedroom suite attributed to Eugene Vallin, including a bed frame, large armoire, side table and chair, carved with leaves, buds and tendrils, last sold at Sotheby’s in London in 1996, went for $9,225; while a circa 1880 English George III inlaid mahogany linen press, 81 ½ inches tall and raised on bracket feet, rectangular form in two parts, made $2,829.

A Tuttle sterling silver flatware service in the Onslow pattern, with marks for four presidents (Ford, Carter, Nixon and Johnson), weighing a total 157.37 troy ounces, sold for $2,583. Also, a Bisbee Mountain turquoise squash blossom necklace, unsigned, about 15 inches long, boasting shaped and polished natural turquoise stones, bezel set into silver flower blossoms, hit $2,337.

Neue Auctions has three more auctions planned for the balance of 2020. The first will be a single-owner collection of lovely Art Deco pieces, titled Erte and Icart. After that is an auction titled Coach Me If You Can, a timed sale of over 100 lots of “new with tags” Coach bags and accessories. And finally, A Brave Neue World sale will be held in December (or in early 2021).

Neue Auctions invites everyone to be added to its email list to receive notifications and information regarding all current and future sales. For info, visit www.neueauctions.com.

Ukraine Seeks Closer Alignment with EU Toy Safety Regulations

Ukraine has published a draft resolution that, if accepted, will bring its toy safety legislation into closer alignment with the European Union’s Directive 2009/48/EC, the so-called European Toy Safety Directive (TSD).

The draft resolution – Draft Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine On Amendments to the Technical Regulations for Toy Safety – was published by the Ukrainian Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture on September 15, 2020. Among several important changes, it aims to:

  • Strengthen the migration of aluminum 2.5-fold for all three categories of toy materials. The proposed migration limits are:
    1. Category I – 2,250 mg/kg
    2. Category II – 560 mg/kg
    3. Category III – 28,130 mg/kg
  • Strengthen the migration of chromium (VI) by approximately 4-fold for category III toy materials – to 0.053 mg/kg
  • Add three levels of requirement for formaldehyde (migration, emission and content) in toys for children under 36 months or in other toys intended to be placed in the mouth:
    1. Formaldehyde migration in polymeric materials – no more than 1.5 mg/l
    2. Formaldehyde emission in resin-bonded wood – no more than 0.1 ml/m³
    3. Formaldehyde content in each of textile, leather and paper materials – no more than 30 mg/kg
    4. Formaldehyde content in water-based toys – no more than 10 mg/kg

The three categories of toy material are:

  • Category I – dry, brittle, powder-like or pliable (e.g. chalk, bouncing putties, crayons, plasticine)
  • Category II – liquid or sticky toys (e.g. bubble solutions, finger paints, slimes)
  • Category III – scraped-off (e.g. ceramics, textiles, wood, bone, leather, polymers, elastomers)

Ukraine originally approved its ‘Technical Regulations on the Safety of Toys’ in 2018. If accepted, the draft proposal will come into effect six months after it is published in Ukraine’s Official Journal.
