Dietquiz Org Launches A Knowledgebase To Help Dieters To Develop Healthy Lifelong Habits

Los Angeles, CA (February 17, 2014) - A new dietary knowledgebase was launched today to present popular weight loss plans and help visitors to choose a diet they are motivated to follow and fits their personality and lifestyle.

The knowledgebase was created by the development team at DietQuiz.org to present important facts about each diet in an informative and concise manner. Visitors of DietQuiz.org are offered entertaining quizzes to test their knowledge of the risks and benefits associated with each diet. The knowledgebase section offers a wealth of information on popular plans to make it easier for dieters to pick a plan that emphasizes the foods they enjoy.

“Adding the dietary knowledgebase is another step toward turning DietQuiz.org into a powerful educational tool that helps consumers with their dietary decisions,” said John Williams, marketing consultant at DietQuiz.org.

Dieters are more likely to stick with a plan that fits with their philosophy and has a dramatic impact on performance, well-being, and weight loss. Low-carb plans slash the consumption of starchy vegetables, rice, bread, and pasta. Dieters have improvements in their waist circumference and metabolic health. Beefing up the consumption of monounsaturated fats, protein, and vegetables, they lose weight in a healthy way. While low-carb diets offer multiple benefits, it is important to choose a plan that serves as a healthy lifestyle guide. The new knowledgebase section offers information and involved articles on 10 diets, including the Paleo, and Atkins diets.

DietQuiz.org does not provide medical or nutritional advice but serves as a reference and research starting point for dieters and helps them to gain better understanding of different low-carb plans. Some dieters need a plan that offers nutritional advice while others want some support and guidance. Still others are looking for a program that allows occasional treats. Some dieters need a plan that emphasizes lifestyle and dietary changes while others want to try a diet based on a record-tracking system. The goal of the new knowledgebase is to highlight the facts so that visitors choose a diet they are comfortable with.

Microchip Delivers the Smallest Automotive maXTouch Controllers for Smart Surfaces and Multi function Displays

July 10, 2020, New Delhi, — To help enhance and ease today’s driving experience, automotive manufacturers are implementing additional touch displays beyond the center infotainment display (CID). Supporting the application of these secondary displays with advanced features, Microchip Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MCHP) today announced the extension of its market-leading maXTouch portfolio with the new MXT288UD touch controller family, the industry’s smallest automotive grade packaged touch screen controllers. The MXT288UD-AM and the MXT144UD-AM devices offer low power mode, weatherproof operation and glove touch detection in multi-function displays, touch pad and smart surfaces for vehicles, motorcycles, e-bikes and car-sharing services.

Secondary touch surfaces can be placed in both the interior of cars and exterior of a motor vehicle, such as handlebars, doors, electronic mirrors, control knobs, the steering wheel, between seats or in an armrest. With the MXT288UD family’s small 7x7 mm automotive grade VQFN56 package, tier one suppliers can now reduce board space by 75 percent and greatly minimize the overall Bill of Materials (BoM) for these compact applications — all while exceeding the requirements for excellent and reliable touch performance in the market. The family’s low power wait-for-touch mode consumes less than 50 µA, remaining responsive for the user, even if the display switches off to save power or to avoid disturbing the driver at night. The system will wake by a touch event anywhere on the touch surface.

In addition, the MXT288UD-AM and the MXT144UD-AM devices enable detection and tracking of multi-finger thick gloves through a wide variety of overlay materials and thicknesses, like leather, wood or across uneven surfaces — even in the presence of moisture. Normally the dielectric constant of these overlay materials would limit the detection of the touch, however these devices provide a unique solution to reliably detect and track multi fingers with a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and through a proprietary differential mutual acquisition scheme. For example, in car sharing applications, this reliable touch functionality helps users access a car from the outside by tracking touch coordinates on an exterior display in any environment, like rain, snow or extreme heat. Motorcycles and other motorbike vehicles also benefit from such weatherproof designs. As a turnkey solution, the MXT288UD family provides proven firmware, developed according to Automotive SPICE® processes and is AEC-Q100 qualified — making it easy for today’s automotive manufacturers to integrate into existing systems at a lower risk with faster time to market.

“Automotive OEMs are looking to enhance the user experience through smart surfaces and multi-function displays, while still providing a convenient and distraction free environment,” said Fanie Duvenhage, vice president of Microchip’s human machine interface and touch function group. “Addressing these needs in the market, Microchip is building on its already leading portfolio of automotive touchscreen solutions with the new MXT288UD touch controller family — bringing increased performance and cost savings to the industry’s smallest package of automotive grade touch controllers.”

Development Tools and Design Services

Both software and hardware support are available. Software tools includes maXTouch Studio and a maXTouch analyzer. For the MXT288UD, the hardware offered includes an evaluation kit with a printed circuit board (PCB) and a 5” capacitive touch panel, while the MXT144UD’s evaluation kit includes a PCB and a 2.9” capacitive touch pad. For both devices, a bridge PCB is included with a USB connection for interfacing to a computer when running maXTouch Studio.

To help with the development and tuning of touch sensors and integration into the final application, Microchip’s touch function group and field application engineers provide best-in-class, worldwide support.

Pricing and Availability

The MXT288UD touch controller family is available today in mass production. For additional information, contact a Microchip sales representative, authorized worldwide distributor, or visit Microchip’s website.

Bruneaus July 23 auction will kick off with paintings by Indian artists Maqbool Hussain B Prabha

Up for bid will be 319 lots, collected from estates across New England. Everything will be sold to the highest bidder, without reserves, starting at 6 pm Eastern time.

Cranston, RI, USA, Jul 11, 2020 -- Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers’ online-only Antiques & Fine Art auction on Thursday, July 23rd, will kick off with vibrant paintings by Indian artists Maqbool Fida Hussain (1913-2011) and B. Prabha (1933-2001). They will be followed by more than 300 lots, collected from estates across New England. Everything will be sold to the highest bidder, with no reserves.

Lot 1 is a Modernist-Cubist watercolor painting by Maqbool Fida Hussain (often called “the Picasso of India”), depicting a galloping golden horse illuminated by the sun with a floating hand. The work, 20 inches by 30 inches (sight), is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Hussain’s son, Shafat, stating it was done in 2002. The painting should hit $8,000-$12,000.

Lot 2 is an oil on canvas Portrait of a Young Woman by B. Prabha, who entered the art world when few Indian women were involved professionally, and worked on over 50 exhibitions inside and outside of India. The portrait is of a beautiful Indian woman with red top, yellow Ghoonghat and gold hoop earrings. The 19 ¾ inch by 15 ¾ inch canvas has an estimate of $7,000-$10,000.

“Man, is this an action-packed catalog,” enthused Travis Landry, a Bruneau & Co. auctioneer and the firm’s Director of Pop Culture. “From modern Indian art to Qing Dynasty porcelain, I’m sure there will be a large crowd bidding online. Typically, I’m excited to hammer something down, but this time I’m excited to accept bids behind a computer. It is sure to be a fun auction.”

The Qing Dynasty porcelain Mr. Landry referred to includes a Chinese famille rose plaque that’s exceptionally well painted and depicts two figures with a calligraphic poem and signatures. The plaque measures 17 ½ inches by 10 ¼ inches and has some very light wear to the faint details but is otherwise in very good overall condition. The plaque is expected to finish at $2,000-$4,000.

Returning to fine art, a colorful egg tempera on paper depiction of an angelic figure in abstract by David Clyde Driscoll (Md./Washington, D.C., 1931-2020), titled Masked Angel on verso, 14 ½ inches by 12 ½ inches (22 inches by 20 inches framed), is estimated to fetch $3,000-$5,000. David Clyde Driscoll studied with James A. Porter, for whom he accredits his notable career.

A vibrant (and authentic) blue, green, yellow and red depiction of Peter Max’s (Germany/N.Y., b. 1937) iconic Liberty Head image, is expected to reach $3,000-$5,000. The acrylic on canvas on a TriMar stretcher measures 24 inches by 24 inches. Also offered will be two estate fresh oil on canvas board paintings by the American en plein air artist Abbott Fuller Graves (1859-1936).

The second portion of the catalog will offer an eclectic mix of decorative arts, crystal, porcelain, furniture, jewelry, Asian arts and modern design. In addition to the famille rose plaque, other Asian highlights will include a second Chinese porcelain table screen, a Chinese Qing Dynasty dragon and phoenix vase, a Chinese gilt bronze lute pipa form censer and other wonderful items.

Furniture will be led by a set of six Limbert #1171 Ebon-Oak Mission dining chairs (Michigan, circa 1900), comprising five side chairs and one arm chair with inlaid ebony geometric design on a splat (est. $1,000-$1,500); a fine 19th century Federal satin inlaid mahogany breakfast table; a French Country inlaid mahogany table; and two Louis XVI demilune gilt white console tables.

Within the furniture offerings will be a nice selection of modern design, including a Schubert Industries whiskey barrel suite, Dillingham furniture, Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin, and many pieces of Danish and American mid-century modern furniture. Throughout the sale there will be more than 40 lots of fine jewelry, including a diamond and sapphire bracelet earing suite.

Other noteworthy lots include a circa 1900 antique Persian Bidjar Oriental wool carpet rug, 18 feet 7 inches by 11 feet 11 inches, having a royal blue center decorated with a floral vine pattern within layered floral borders (est. $1,500-$2,500); and a GV-1 Lancaster Glass pictorial pint railroad flask, grey-blue in color and embossed “Success to the Railroad” on both sides and a decoration of a train, 6 ¼ inches tall, with great color and mold impression (est. $600-$900).

“Having to adjust to an online-only crowd has been an interesting task to say the least,” said Bruneau president Kevin Bruneau. “While we miss our in-house customers, it is for their safety we host the auctions online only. We could never fit everyone in the gallery with proper social distancing. If anyone has any questions, they can call or email the gallery. We are here to help.”

Internet bidding will be facilitated by LiveAuctioneers.com, Invaluable.com, Bidsquare.com and bidLIVE.Bruneauandco.com, plus the mobile app “Bruneau & Co.” on iTunes or GooglePlay. Phone and absentee bids will also be taken. The auction will start promptly at 6 pm Eastern time.

Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers is always accepting quality consignments for future auctions, with commissions as low as zero percent. Now would be a perfect time to clean out your attic.
