Vivaldi browser 2.10: Unwraps better site compatibility through user agent changes, adds more style

OSLO - Dec 19th, 2019: The Vivaldi browser releases its new version, Vivaldi 2.10 - addressing a significant issue of the user agent that will provide its users the best website compatibility while browsing. Users can also match and even schedule their browser themes with the operating system of their devices.

No "strings" attached: Better site compatibility with User Agent changes: Being a Chromium-based browser, Vivaldi should work on any website that works on Chrome. Yet, Vivaldi has faced the issue of "incompatible websites" far too often. This is because many websites that work perfectly in Vivaldi, actively block Vivaldi when its true name is "announced". Vivaldi is blocked for many reasons, and often by competitors, rivals and tech companies in a position of power. Blocking Chromium-based browsers has no technical merit in 2020, nor has it ever had.

Vivaldi users regularly encounter messages that they have to upgrade their browsers or the site will not work. Although Vivaldi has made workarounds for a few of these issues, this is happening on too many sites and some are hard to fix.

From this update onwards, users will be able to browse smoothly all those websites that claim to be incompatible with Vivaldi. This is because Vivaldi has changed its user agent string. Basically, the word `Vivaldi` is being dropped from the user agent string.

For the uninitiated, a browser sends its "user agent" to every website you connect to. A user agent is a string - that is, a line of text - identifying the browser to the web server, including the version number and operating system. Over time, the browser "user-agent" system has been abused with the practice of "browser sniffing" and a lot of ink has already been spilled on the reasons why the user agent string should not be used for such bad practices. In short, instead of making the Web accessible to everyone, regardless of which browser or device they are using, this has worked the opposite way.

"The primary reason to show Vivaldi in the user agent is a level of pride. That pride, however, is hurting us, as our competitors and others are using this to block us from their services," says Vivaldi CEO Jon von Tetzchner.

Match your themes with your operating system: Vivaldi already allowed users to schedule the ultra-customizable Vivaldi themes to change at their preferred time(s) - a unique feature that gives users to customize their even browser. Now users can get Vivaldi to work in concert with the themes of the operating system - to match light or dark theme (the latter being all the rage these days). Vivaldi can now follow the theme of OS too.

Other Improvements: Improvements in the Address Bar layout along with some tweaks in keyboard handling, improvements in toggling extensions, and significant quick commands performance improvements.

A High Five for RI Chiropractors’ Healing Hands Glove and Mitten Drive for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island

Rhode Island, Jan 08, 2020 -- The Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island (CSRI), one of the oldest chiropractic associations in the country, kicked off the second month of its Healing Hands Glove and Mitten drive to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island with several participating doctors reporting an overflow of donated gloves and mittens.

Dr. Karen Anania, DC, a chiropractic physician with a practice located at 172 Broadway in Providence was one CSRI member who experienced an overwhelming response to the drive. Big Brothers Big Sisters recently made a special stop at her office to receive donations.

“I have great patients, so I can’t say I’m surprised by the response,” said Dr. Anania. “But this exceeded my expectations and I’m hoping we can fill and empty the bin one or two more times before the Healing Hands Glove and Mitten Drive ends.”

Collections for the Healing Hands Glove and Mitten Drive began at participating chiropractor offices on December 1 and will continue through January 31. Both new and gently used gloves and mittens are gratefully accepted. More than 29 chiropractors in Rhode Island are participating. Those are listed on CSRI’s website at https://www.richiro.org/.

The program is also sponsored by the Rhode Island Newspaper Group (RING), which includes 19 newspapers throughout the Ocean State. RING has run ads promoting the drive.

“As chiropractors, our entire livelihood depends on our hands so we know what delicate instruments the hands can be. To be without mittens or gloves during the frigid winter months, particularly those who are homeless, can be extremely damaging to the hands,” said Dr. Michael Zola, president of the CSRI and a chiropractic physician. “We thank all those who have donated so far and the participating doctors who have helped raise awareness among Rhode Islanders about this drive. We’re hoping to reach many more people out there to generate more donations.”

To generate as many donations as possible, CSRI invited all Rhode Island chiropractors to participate, with no fee involved. Chiropractors merely need to put a donation box in the waiting room at their practice and pass out flyers to patients. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island handles collection and disbursement.

LaTribuna Christian Publishing Investigates Preventable Deaths and Injuries in American Hospitals

Phoenix, AZ, Jan 08, 2020 -- The Journal of Patient Safety recently published a study which concluded that as many as 440,000 people die each year from preventable medical errors in hospitals. Tens of thousands also die from preventable mistakes outside hospitals, such as deaths from missed diagnoses or because of injuries from medications.

LaTribuna's investigations into this matter have found that there are over ten thousand preventable medical injuries per day in American hospitals alone, these numbers are even higher when we take into account nursing homes, care centers and medical rehabs.

Medical errors rank behind heart disease and cancer as the third leading cause of death in the U.S., Johns Hopkins researchers say. ... Based on an analysis of prior research, the Johns Hopkins study estimates that more than 400000 Americans die each year from medical errors. Only heart disease and cancer rank higher in deaths per year then preventable medical errors. Preventable medical errors are now the third leading cause of death in the United States.

Chaplain Paul Vescio CEO of LaTribuna Christian Publishing is quoted saying, “The need to educate the public about how to protect ourselves when entering into American healthcare is vital for our loved ones survival. Even something as simple as washing hands and not going into a hospital setting when dealing with the flu or a cold can save lives. Learning how infection spreads and how we as a nation can prevent the spreading of infection is the key to insuring a healthy and safe environment in American healthcare.”

Chaplain Paul is also quoted saying, “Totally preventable medical mistakes in American hospitals is now a national health care crises. With over 400000 preventable deaths per year and with over 10000 preventable injuries per day in American hospitals alone its time for real action from our elected officials to address this important health care issue and begin to lower these numbers and save lives.”

LaTribuna Christian Publishing is committed in bringing news stories that matter most to the public. Chaplain Paul Vescio has written a book called How to Protect Our Families in American Healthcare.
