SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 049.24 to keep stakeholders informed on recent changes to the United Kingdom’s mandatory classification, labeling and packaging (CLP) list for substances and mixtures.
Applicable only to Great Britain (GB – Wales, Scotland and England) following Brexit, the GB CLP list is now in its fourth iteration. It is an important directory for the classification and labeling of substances and mixtures and is relevant to manufacturers, importers, downstream user and distributors operating in GB.
Published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the new version makes several editorial changes to improve clarity and adds 25 substances. These include 4-nitrosomorpholine (CAS 59-89-2), which is a carcinogenic 1B and mutagenic 2 substance.
The revisions will apply from September 2, 2025.
