Geneva (June 10, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is delighted to announce its participation in Eurobike 2025, running from June 25–29, 2025, in Frankfurt.

Eurobike 2025 is Europe’s key networking event and conference for the bike and e-mobility sector, with this year’s theme being ‘Shaping active mobility’. An increased focus on electrification for bike-related consumer goods — from mobility aids and children’s micromobility to cargo bikes and e-scooters — has led to increased regulatory scrutiny. Businesses are under pressure to ensure their products are compliant and market-ready.

SGS will be co-exhibiting at Eurobike 2025 alongside EFBE, a globally recognized expert in structural and fatigue testing for bicycles.

Experts from both SGS and EFBE will be available at booth A19, Hall 8 at Messe Frankfurt, to offer advice on a comprehensive range of services, including:
- EFBE TRI-TEST® for frame, fork and component structural validation
- Mechanical safety, including braking performance
- Electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
- Battery and charger safety testing
- E-bike range and performance testing
- Functional safety evaluation
- Chemical safety and restricted substance compliance (REACH, RoHS, PFAS)
- Wireless transmission and cybersecurity

Eurobike 2025 takes place from June 25 to 29 at Messe Frankfurt, Ludwig-Erhard Anlage 1, 60327, Frankfurt, Germany.

Geneva (June 11, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 074.25, summarizing Montenegro’s newly enacted legislation banning PFHxS, its salts and related compounds, effective May 17, 2025. This regulatory move aligns with international efforts under the Stockholm Convention to eliminate persistent organic pollutants (POPs).

The regulation follows the 2022 COP-10 decision (Decision SC-10/13) to phase out PFHxS and similar substances. PFHxS, a member of the PFAS chemical family, is widely used in textiles, firefighting foams, food packaging and non-stick products due to its resistance to heat, oil and chemicals.

The updated legislation (OGM No. 44/2025), published on May 9, 2025, prohibits the production, import and use of PFHxS and related compounds (CAS 355-46-4 and others). The ban takes effect eight days after publication, reinforcing national chemical safety standards.

According to the update:
- The ban covers both substances and products containing PFHxS, its salts and PFHxS-related compounds
- Manufacturers and importers should review supply chains to ensure compliance

SGS publishes SafeGuardS to help stakeholders stay informed of critical regulatory developments. SafeGuardS 074.25 includes information on chemical regulation changes in Montenegro, highlighting affected product categories and key substances impacted by the legislation.

Stakeholders are encouraged to review the full SafeGuardS 074.25 for further details.

Geneva (June 11, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 075.25, summarizing the Maine Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) final regulation implementing its law on ‘Products Containing PFAS’. These rules, which took effect on May 6, 2025, set out restrictions, notification procedures and conditions for currently unavoidable use (CUU) of PFAS in consumer products.

Building on legislation enacted in July 2021 and amended in 2023 and 2024, the regulation applies to all new and unused products containing intentionally added PFAS, unless exempt. It mandates detailed notifications from manufacturers with over 100 employees and establishes a phased prohibition on the sale of such products starting January 1, 2032, unless a valid CUU determination is granted.

Key aspects include:
- Clear definitions of product scope and exemptions, including packaging and certain consumer goods
- Notification processes requiring detailed information and fees, with specific deadlines for submission
- Procedures for requesting CUU, including submission timelines and requirements

SGS publishes SafeGuardS to help stakeholders stay informed of critical regulatory developments. SafeGuardS 075.25 includes a table summarizing the highlights of each section of the final rule.

Stakeholders are encouraged to review the full SafeGuardS 075.25 for further details.

Los Angeles, California. IFC Advisors, a FINRA registered firm in Los Angeles chooses the AdvisorVault 17a-4 Managed 365 Service® to get 17a-4 compliant on the Microsoft Cloud

With a mix of outdated technology IFC had a mess compliance wise: an end-of-life server with data scattered all over the place, although they had a Microsoft subscription already, they needed a better Cloud Provider to fully migrate to Microsoft 365 and consolidate their records while simplifying compliance & reducing IT costs.

Cloud Consolidation Meeting 17a-4

“The Key for IFC meeting 17a-4 was centralizing everything on Microsoft 365”, Said Allan Lonz, President of AdvisorVault. “For example, they needed to migrate their old server to SharePoint; move PC data to OneDrive; upgrade to Microsoft Business Standard license provided by AdvisorVault.” Added Lonz

Essentially though, with this move to Microsoft 365 (through AdvisorVault), IFC was fully using the cloud with 50 GB mailboxes on Exchange, 1 TB of space on OneDrive for each user and another TB for SharePoint with Teams added allowing AdvisorVault to archive their entire operation centrally - easily meeting rule 17a-4.

Benefits of AdvisorVault’s 17a-4 Managed 365 Service®
By using AdvisorVault’s 17a-4 Managed 365 Service FINRA firms get these benefits:

A fully supported and archived Microsoft Cloud for one Flat Monthly Fee

FINRA Cybersecurity with email filtering & threat monitoring built-in

The 17a-4 D3P Service with attestation letters prepared

Geneva (March 30, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 067.25 to keep stakeholders informed about an additional delay to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reporting requirements for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

Under ‘Toxic Substances Control Act Reporting and Recordkeeping Requirements for Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances’ (‘TSCA PFAS Reporting Rule’), signed into effect on September 28, 2023, businesses that have manufactured or imported PFAS, including PFAS containing articles, for commercial purposes between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2022, must report designated PFAS compounds to the EPA. The original submission period under the law was from November 12, 2024, to May 8, 2025, with an additional six months for small businesses. This was then pushed back by eight months on September 5, 2024.

The EPA has now announced a second delay, pushing back the reporting period to April 13, 2026 – October 13, 2026, with a date of April 13, 2027, for small manufacturers reporting exclusively as article importers.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 067.25 contains details of the reporting rule delay, including information on the reasons behind the change and an additional consultation.

Stakeholders are advised to review the original SafeGuardS 067.25 for further details.
